Performers on Parade features professional performers in the areas of music, dance, theatre and more! Each week, a different performer will visit each library in the city.
Mike Diakuw, aka “Captain Orange”, is a father, performer and library storyteller with more than 25 years of experience working with and entertaining children. Mike’s love of stories, diverse technology, improvisation and active engagement with an audience have led him to everything from musical theatre to childcare to performing weekly in Pooh Corner at Saskatoon Public Library. He offers stories, puppetry and improvisation in a variety of forms, including as the characters of Captain Orange and ShadowTeller.

The J.S. Wood Library opened in 1961 and is named after James Stuart Wood, who was born in England in 1891 and worked as a college librarian before enlisting in the British Army. He came to Canada with his family in 1925, teaching in Nipawin and Prince Albert before taking the role of Chief Librarian at Saskatoon Public Library in 1938.
