Join Graeme Hopkins for a talk about his new book for young readers on Saskatoon's fascinating prehistory and see some real fossils!

Prehistoric Saskatoon: A Book for Young Readers tells the story of Saskatoon’s over 400 million year-long prehistory in a short, accessible format. From sea monster-riddled inland oceans to the kingdom of dinosaurs to the barren tundras of the ice age, this book takes you on a whirlwind tour through time to discover Saskatoon’s fossil secrets. Along the way, you’ll also learn how this history shaped Saskatoon’s present-day lands, waters and biodiversity. This book is currently only available to borrow at Saskatoon Public Library locations. In his presentation, Graeme will explain the real fossil sites that inspired the book as well as the timeframes the book touches on. Afterward, he will present some real fossil specimens from Saskatchewan and beyond.
